The Chandigarh NCC group dedicated the newly constructed drill square at its headquarters here to Param Vir Chakra recipient Capt Vikram Batra and also felicitated his parents during a function to commemorate the 70th NCC Raising Day on Monday.
Capt Batra, who was a cadet of No.1 Chandigarh NCC Air Squadron during his college days, was posthumously decorated with the nation’s highest gallantry award for his actions during the 1999 Kargil conflict.
The Batra Drill Square was inaugurated by his parents, Girdhari Lal Batra and Kamal Kanta Batra, who came from from their home town in Palampur. Floral tributes were also paid at his bust installed at the headquarters’ entrance.
