The BJP has decided to extend its ‘Mera Parivar BJP Parivar’ despite Congress objection to forcible putting of flags on homes of beneficiaries of state and Central government schemes.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the BJP Election Management Committee meeting held here today. The meeting was attended by state BJP president Satpal Singh Satti, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, Praveen Sharma and Chander Mohan Thakur, besides other party functionaries.

Notwithstanding Congress party’s objection, the BJP has decided to have a second phase of the “Mera Parivar BJP Parivar” programme from March 23 to April 6. The party has also decided to have booth-level meetings from March 23 to May 15 to chalk out the strategy for the parliamentary polls.

Addressing the participants, Satti exhorted the workers to ensure the party’s victory in all four Lok Sabha seats. “Those who make others contest and campaign for the candidate play a far more important role than the candidate himself,” he remarked.

Satti said the biggest strength of the BJP is its dedicated and sincere workers. “It is on the strength of these workers that the BJP has been able to register resounding victories in the past and I am sure we will repeat the performance of 2014 polls by winning all four seats,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said the Centre’s benevolence and special bond that Prime Minister shared with Himachal had helped the state in a big way. “Whether it pertains to the restoration of special category status or addressing issues concerning the state, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been very considerate towards Himachal,” he remarked. Thakur said the people of Himachal will always remain indebted to the Prime Minister for these gestures.

The Chief Minister said the popularity graph of the Prime Minister had gone up and the BJP will win the elections and form the government at the Centre. He said the BJP governments, both at the Centre and in Himachal, had taken several welfare measures for various sections of society. He said he was confident that the people of the state will appreciate the work done by his government.
