Kangra, September 2
The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Kangra, bagged two gold medals in a national competition held at the NIFT, New Delhi, on Saturday.
Director NIFT, Kangra, Prof Sibichan K Matthew yesterday said Heena Arora from the fashion and lifestyle accessory department and Mansi Chauhan from the fashion design department were the winners.
He said a design with the name ‘Tool Box’ was adjudged as the best amongst all design collections and awarded a gold medal. The best collections from all 16 centres of the institution were exhibited during the competition.
He said Heena Arora’s handmade collection was made from paper recycled from industrial waste. Products such as diaries, photo frames and other collaterals had work of Kasuti embroidery on it. Designer Mansi Chauhan collection was inspired by different stages of life and death.
He said both winners received gold medals, certificates and a cash prize of Rs 2,500 each.
