No check on illegal fishing in Manali

Yadvender Singh, general secretary of the Kullu Trout Conservation and Angling Association, has alleged that a few Nepalese had killed fishes in the Haripur Nullah of Manali using bleaching powder yesterday.

He demanded that the Fisheries Department should register an FIR against the culprits and take measures to curb illegal fishing activity.

Yadvender Singh said the use of chemicals for killing fish was illegal and offenders could be given of 2-year jail with heavy fine. He also said bleaching powder was mostly available with the department and it was surprising that the miscreants managed to get it. — TNS
