Mandi, November 4
Food and Civil Supply ration depot holders today launched a protest against the state government in Mandi town in support of their demands. They said that they be declared as government employees and provided all benefits as available to them.
They said that the commission of 3 per cent provided by the government on ration for the above poverty line card holders was quite low and should be increased.
“The Food and Civil Supply Corporation is providing ration stock to depots without measurement. As a result, most of the time, the depot holders fail to meet the demand,” said Ashok Kavi, president of Depot Holders Samiti.
He said that the licence renewal fee of Rs 10,000 was quite high. Besides, there were a few other demands, which the government should consider on priority.
“We have submitted a memorandum of demands to the state government through the Mandi Deputy Commissioner and urged Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur to look into the matter,” he added.
