The Santoshgarh police today registered a case under the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against the principal and a teacher of Government Senior Secondary School, Santoshgarh in Una Sub-Division after a group of followers of Maharishi Valmiki staged a three-hour protest, alleging blasphemy and casteist slur charge.
As per the complaint, during a class on Thursday, a teacher had mentioned Maharishi Valmiki as a dacoit and had also written the word on the blackboard. When the followers of Maharishi Valmiki came to know about the incident, they blocked the Nangal- Santoshgarh road and raised slogans. DSP Haroli Navdeep Singh said a case had been registered. — OC
