Mandi, July 31
The Shrikhand Mahadev yatra, considered to be one of the toughest pilgrimages, was officially closed on Tuesday. It began on July 15.
For the safe journey of devotees, the Kullu administration had set up four rescue posts on way to Shrikhand Mahadev before the start of the yatra, which is a 35-km tough track from Jaon under Nirmand block.
DC Yunus Khan told The Tribune: “The registration of devotees at the base camp was stopped on July 28 and today we have officially closed it. The rescue posts would be removed in two days and we will cross-check if any registered person is still in the area.”
The DC urged the people to avoid journey to Shrikhand Mahadev because there would be no one to provide immediate help.
This year 5,670 devotees were registered for Shrikhand, in which 5,410 were male and 260 were female.
