The state-level Maj Dhyan Chand Memorial Hockey Tournament for boys began at the Hockey Astroturf Stadium situated at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in the town on Wednesday. The two-day tournament is jointly organised by the Himachal Pradesh Sports Council and the State Youth Services and Sports Department.

District Sports Officer MP Bharadia said 180 players representing 10 districts of the state were participating in the tournament. In the games played, Solan defeated Kullu, Hamirpur beat Shimla, while Sirmour defeated Bilaspur to enter the next rounds. Una DSP Ashok Verma opened the tournament. — OC
