State gets first gastroenterologist

Hamirpur, July 11

Saurabh Galodha of Hamirpur became the state’s first gastroenterologist and liver transplant surgeon. He joined the IGMC as Assistant Professor, Gastroenterology, Department of Surgery. Dr Saurabh said to serve the needy was his priority. There was demand for a gastroenterology specialist in the state as patients were taken to PGI, Chandigarh, or AIIMS, New Delhi, for diseases pertaining to digestive system. His parents, Dr Naresh Galodha and Dr Sunita Galodha, run a private hospital.

Dr Saurabh presented his research thesis in various countries, including Australia, Brazil and South Korea. He completed MBBS from IGMC, Shimla, and MS from Swai Maan Singh Medical College Jaipur with specialization in gastroenterology from Sanjay Gandhi PGI, Lucknow. — OC
