Addressing a gathering, Prof Neelu emphasised that it would serve the dual objectives of providing an exposure to students as well as facilitating industries to strengthen their ties with an institute of a national repute.

The Director said the third batch of the institute had students from 22 states. She expressed her firm belief that the exposure of this event would be of immense help to the local industries. She advised the students to remain connected to the grassroots and “Connect to the basics. Don’t just think about money.”

She said challenges fetched hidden opportunities and such events would help in reinforcing the ties between the local industries and the IIM-Sirmaur.

A panel discussion on topics ranging from sustainable and efficient operations to the emerging role of women entrepreneur was also held.

S Kundu, COO, Braza Tyres, initiated the discussion by highlighting the importance of process optimisation. Drawing from his industry experience of over 40 years, he said achieving optimum utilisation of physical, financial and human resources drove the productivity strategy of any company.

Saumya Tyagi from Mediforce Healthcare conveyed her passion for entrepreneurship and shared her experience of starting a new venture. She voiced her belief that women should try to break free from the gender roles assigned to them by the archaic norms of society. “We need to make the change happen by changing our mindset,” she said.

Nikunj Tyagi from Mankind Pharma spoke on the reforms of the tax structure. He said it took time for the industry, bureaucracy and individuals to adapt to a structural revamp.
