The appointment of ‘swachhata doots’ in the Dharamsala Municipal Corporation has come under fire. The BJP has alleged that the ‘swachhata doots’ appointed in corporation under the Union Government scheme are campaigning for the Congress.
Talking to mediapersons, Kishan Kapoor, the BJP candidate from Dharamsala, has alleged that most of the people appointed as ‘swachhata doots’ are Congress workers. “They are not working for the purpose for which they have been appointed and are being paid. Instead, these workers are campaigning for Congress candidate Sudhir Sharma,” he alleges.Kapoor alleges that BJP workers have posted pictures on social media of ‘swachhata doots’ participating in programmes of the Congress and working for the ruling party. In case the BJP comes to power, an inquiry would be conducted and action would be taken against the officials who are allowing the ‘doots’ to work for the ruling party, he says.
Kapoor said that a complaint in this regard would also be sent to the Election Commission.
According to information, the ‘swachhata doots’ are paid Rs 6,500 per month. They are mandated with the job of creating awareness regarding Swachh Bharat Abhiyan of the Government of India. In Dharamsala, about 16 ‘swachhata doots’ have been appointed.
