Arrangements are in place for the rally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Dhalpur tomorrow.
He will meet voters and urge them to support the BJP candidate. His visit is expected to boost the morale of workers in the area. The Congress is banking on development and now it is to be seen if Modi will be able to counter the former’s claim and win the heart of locals to form the BJP government.
Kullu SP Shalini Agnihotri said elaborate security arrangements had been made ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit.
She said 800 police personnel had been deployed. People from various districts are expected to attend the rally.
Locals are excited as it is Modi’s first visit to the district after becoming the Prime Minister.
Bhupinder, a resident, said they had been demanding a rail link for long and were hopeful that Modi would take some concrete steps to develop the strategically important rail network in the state as he considered Himachal his second home.
Atishaye, a travel agent, said former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee too had put in efforts to develop the Kullu-Manali airport in Bhuntar and proposed to expand the runway so that bigger
aircraft could land there, but the project could not take shape.
He said if the Prime Minister announced some special package to strengthen tourism in the hill state, it could garner voters in favour of the BJP as the people here depended on tourism for their livelihood.
Rakesh, a resident, said the Bhubu Jot and Jalori Pass tunnel projects were the other demands of the people of the district.
There were many local issues, which the BJP star campaigner could take up and woo voters, he added.
