The tourist footfall has increased in Kullu and Manali. The National Green Tribunal (NGT) order capping the number of vehicles entering the eco-fragile area has had no impact on the tourism industry here.

As per data available with the Tourism Department, there has been an increase in the arrival of domestic and foreign tourists.

Kullu and Manali attract a large number of tourists through the year. This year, till September, as many as 10,40,54 foreigners and 29,99,752 domestic tourists visited Kullu district. The figures were 12,20,64 and 35,15,169 last year.

The highest footfall of foreign tourists was recorded in July, while the lowest was in January. Hoteliers said they were expecting more tourists as the NGT had not curbed the tourist influx.
