Two hurt in landslide on Manali highway

Mandi, August 12

Two persons, going by car from to Mandi from Kullu, were injured in a massive landslide on the Chandigarh-Manali highway at Dwada near Hanogi temple this evening.

The injured, identified as Rajinder Mehta (44) of Rampur in Shimla and Sanjeev Kumar of Bayal village in Kullu, had been rushed to the Zonal Hospital, Mandi.

According to DSP, Mandi, Hitesh Lakhan Pal, debris of the landslide fell on the vehicle but following immediate response of the district authorities and local people, they had been to rescued safely.

The road was prone to landslide and police personnel were also deployed to alert the commuters.

During this rainy season, there were frequent incidents of landslide in the region, which makes the journey a risky affair on this route.
