Shimla, May 27
Both occupants of a car were killed when it plunged into a deep gorge near Shalkhar under the Pooh police station in tribal Kinnaur district, about 300 km from here on Sunday.
The accident reportedly took place as the driver lost control of the vehicle and it veered off the road and fell down into a gorge. The occupants of the jeep were on their way from Theog to Kaza via Sumdoh on the Hindustan-Tibet National highway.
The driver, who was identified as Anup Rathore died on the spot while the injured person identified as Kamleshwar Chandel succumbed to his injuries at the Primary health Centre at Chango, the police said.
The police have registered a case and investigations are on to ascertain the cause of the accident.
