Two killed, one critical as tree falls over house in Shimla district

SHIMLA: Two persons were killed while another was injured when a tree—uprooted by heavy rains—fell over a house in village Bajwa in the Rampur sub-division of Shimla district.

There were five persons in the house at the time and two children had a miraculous escape.

Two persons were killed while another was critically injured when a tree—uprooted by heavy rains—fell over a house in village Bajwa in the Rampur sub-division of Shimla district.

There were five persons in the house at the time and two children had a miraculous escape.

The deceased were identified as Jitun and her daughter. The injured has been identified as Bashir— Jitun’s son-in-law— whose condition is stated to be critical. Bashir is awaiting medical aid and efforts are on to carry him to hospital. 

According to police sources, fire tenders and police teams were rushed to the spot from Jeory and Ghanvi immediately after they received information about the incident. 

The district administration has also sought assistance of ITBP but the teams are yet to reach the spot. 

The affected family is said to live here during the summer along with a herd of cattle.

The state has witnessed several deaths due to rain-related accidents this monsoon season with the deal toll mounting to 23 with the latest incident.
