An under-construction three-room house at Khudu Balar village of Dhager panchayat in Nahan caved in after a retaining wall erected behind it collapsed and fell on its columns following heavy rain this morning.
No loss of life was reported in the incident though the house owner, 70-year old Khajan Singh, suffered loss worth lakhs. The family, who belongs to the below poverty line, was in deep shock as they had raised the house with great hardships.
Speaker Dr Rajiv Bindal visited the spot along with officials of the district administration and directed them to assess the loss and extend necessary help to the family.
SDM, XEN, PWD, tehsildar and naib tehsildar were among those present on the spot to assess the loss incurred by the family. Dr Bindal also met the affected family members and assured them of extending all necessary help.
