Grasim Mr India 2005, model-turned-actor Viraf Phiroz Patel, who debuted in Bollywood with the film Mummy Punjabi, is now essaying an important role in the Star Plus’ show Naamkarann. He shares some of his experiences.

What is the character you are essaying?

I am playing Ashish, Avni’s father in the show. On one hand Ashish is confident and a successful man in his profession, while on the other when we see him in personal space he is struggling to strike a balance in life. I believe any role close to reality is always difficult to essay

How different is the show from the others that you have done so far?

This is my first stint at working in a movie-like environment for the small screen. Moreover, Ashish’s journey is unlike the other roles on the television screen and is bound to be a thought- provoking story for our audience.

How is your rapport with Arsheen?

I must say Arsheen, who is playing Avni’s character, is a born actress. She is extraordinarily talented for her age. Her humble stories and enthusiasm are very infectious on the sets.

How is the music of the show?

Stars like Arijit Singh, Palak Muchal, Aaryan, Monali Thakur, Anuradha Paudwal, Kumar Sanu, Anu Malik and more have come together to create soulful melodies for the show.
