The beautiful television actress Sriti Jha in an exclusive interview with us speaks about her journey as Pragya on Zee TV’s daily soap Kumkum Bhagya, the kind of roles that pique her interest and her equation with co-star Shabbir Ahluwalia.

What is the best thing about playing Pragya?

There is a lot to learn from Pragya’s role. In just one character, I have lived various lives, played so many shades. People have showered so much love and blessings on both Pragya and Abhi. Ever since I was introduced to Ekta Kapoor, I have learnt a great deal from her story-telling and the learning continues. All the shades that I have portrayed through my character are very dear to me.

Glamorous or de-glam—what kind of role impresses you most?

I perform a role as per the requirements of the script. When it comes to work, I don’t have any personal choice with regards to glam or de-glam. As an actor, I enjoy doing everything. When it comes to Pragya, I enjoy both the looks. I feel it is for audiences to say, which look of Pragya they like the most.

What is the off-screen chemistry between Shabbir and Sriti?

He’s the best co-star ever. I could go on forever on what an inspiration he is!

Your association with Zee and Balaji Telefilms?

This is my first project with Zee TV and it has been a wonderful experience. Balaji is one of the most comforting working experiences I have had in my career.

Do you count this show as one of the best choices in your careers?

Of course, the show is very close to my heart. The co-actors and, in fact, the entire team of the show is a delight to work with. It’s been a truly rewarding experience!

Three changes you want to see in Pragya?

Pragya’s role is that of a very positive person and she is a girl-next-door who anyone can relate to. It is up to the creative team to make changes as and when required, but I wouldn’t want to change a thing about Pragya.

Does criticism affect you?

Yes, it does. In television it matters a lot.
