Actor Judd Hirsch has been roped in to play Leonard Hofstadter’s father in The Big Bang Theory. Johnny Galecki, who plays Leonard Hofstadter, says that it was he who wanted Hirsch as his father.
Talking about Hirsch, Galecki says, “I met this fellow a month or two ago and he’s a hero! I knew that he was a hero of Chuck [Lorre] and Bill [Prady’s], so I just accosted him and cornered him and practically made him commit on the spot to play my father,” Galecki said, adding that he was inspired by Hirsch’s Taxi character, Alex Rieger, while filming The Big Bang Theory pilot. “I’m really excited about it. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”
The two-time Emmy-winning actor, Hirsch, will make his debut in the much popular series on May 12. The character is described as an anthropologist and he was not affectionate at all towards his son.
