Hack attack: A still from Orange is the New Black
Advertisement

A hacker has released ten episodes of the next season of Orange is the New Black on torrent, in an attempt to extort the streaming giant Netflix. The hacker’s identity is still unidentified, but judging from the hacker’s stage name, “The Dark Overlord”, assumptions are that he’s about fourteen years old and a huge fan of anime. Claims are that the hacker chose to release the episodes after Netflix refused to pay him an undisclosed amount of money to prevent the release.

However, the hacker’s attempts are stated to be foolish as nobody pays for individual episodes of Orange is the New Black. Perhaps, The Dark Overlord imagined fans cancelling their memberships, finally liberated from Netflix’s tyrannical monthly fee!

The hacker’s tweet makes it clear that its next targets are FOX, IFC, NAT GEO, and ABC.
