That real life casts a conspicuous reflection on reel life is a fact universally acknowledged. Meet Naved and Sayeeda Jafri, the official power couple of the telly world. If they effortlessly clinched the winning title on-screen, it should raise no brows when the reel-life power couple claims that they have what it takes to be a power couple in real life too.
After acing all the challenges and excelling in gruelling stunts to prove the mettle of their relationship on-screen, the duo offers young couples a piece of advice as how to make matrimonial alliances work.
Acquire the power
According to Naved and Sayeeda, for any relationship to work, and claim the title of a real-life power couple, the requisites are, “Mutual understanding and respect for each other. Also, making sacrifices to sustain the relationship is essential.”
Naved ponders for a moment, and adds, “The one thing that most relationships are devoid of is tolerance. Our elders used to exercise greater amount of patience, which is one thing we should emulate.”
The crux of the matter for him is that the apple does not fall far from the tree, and the actions of youngsters are determined by what they “see their parents doing. That is what gets passed on.”
Reality about reality shows
It is an endless debate as to how realistically things are presented in reality shows. Some think they depict everything but reality, while the others vouch for the authentic portrayal. For celebs, the decision to be a part of such programmes is naturally all the more perplexing because the risk of putting personal life under the scanner is inevitable.
Sceptical of landing in all the “negativity” that surrounds such shows, actor-director and host Naved says his wife Sayeeda, too, experienced similar jitters at the outset. “The two of us have never done anything on these lines before. Sayeeda’s first impulse was, ‘I am not even from this industry, keep me away from all these,’” he exclaims.
He is Record Rambo
Chuffed by his achievement of being “the only guy who completed all the tasks on the show” and giving the other couples a run for their money, Naved proudly says, “I, who had to brush aside the initial apprehensions about joining the show, ended up claiming the title of Record Rambo!”
