Curfew was clamped in the winter capital city today after violent clashes broke out during a shutdown call to protest the Pulwama terror attack. At least six persons were injured in the clashes as protesters indulged in arson, torching over 20 vehicles.

The Army was called out in sensitive areas to restore normalcy amid apprehension of communal clashes. The Army conducted a flag march in Gujjar Nagar and Residency Road area after locals pelted Army personnel with stones to protest damage to their vehicles parked on roadsides in the area.

The shutdown call given by the Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry and supported by various trade, social, religious and political groups brought normal life to a grinding halt with public transport off road and educational institutions closed.

Angry protests were seen last evening after youths took to the streets to condemn the killing of CRPF men.
