Jammu, September 1

On the 20th Raising Day, Lieutenant General Yogesh Kumar Joshi, General Officer Commanding (GOC), Fire & Fury Corps, paid tribute to the martyrs of Ladakh at the war memorial hall of fame in Leh.

The Fire and Fury Corps celebrated 20th Raising Day at Leh, during which a solemn wreath-laying ceremony to honour the martyrs was held. The GOC, speaking to the soldiers of the Fire & Fury Corps complimented them for their service to the nation in such difficult and inhospitable terrain and weather conditions.

On September 1, 1999, in the aftermath of the Kargil War this corps was raised. Since it’s rising, the corps has successfully ensured security of both the Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan and Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China, while maintaining eternal vigil at the actual ground position line in the highest battlefield of the world — the Siachen Glacier.

Since it’s rising has been instrumental in substantially enhancing the infrastructure for the common use of the Army and the civilians, thereby, providing succour to the people of Ladakh. The Fire and Fury Corps has stood steadfast with the people of Ladakh in the times of natural calamities, providing much needed assistance and support in relief, rescue and rebuilding of lives. On Raising Day of this frontier corps, all personnel once again reaffirmed their wholehearted support to the people of Ladakh.
