Four arrested for hunting peacock
Rajouri, July 30
A team from Nowshera police station arrested four persons for hunting and killing the national bird, peacock, on Tuesday.
A senior police officer said on being informed about the hunting of peacocks in a forest near Kalal village near LoC on the intervening night of July 28 and 29, a police team headed by Ajaz Parvaiz, sub inspector, rushed to the area. On the way, the police intercepted a car driven by Gurdeep Singh of Kanara village.
“On checking the car, the police recovered recently hunted and killed peacock. The police impounded the car and also arrested Gurdeep Singh” said Yougal Manhas, SSP. Other accused have been identified as Charan Singh, his son Karnail Singh and Jasbir Singh, all residents of Nonial village.The police also recovered 12 bore gun used for hunting peacocks from the possession of Charan Singh. — OC
