Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Geelani congratulated the daughter of party leader Shabir Ahmad Shah for securing the top position in the state in the CBSE Class XII examination.
In a statement, the separatist group headed by Geelani said he was unable to forward his felicitations in person “because of the undeclared incarceration at his jail-turned-residence, but he congratulated the young daughter of subjugated nation on telephone”.
Sama Shabir, the daughter of a jailed separatist, brought laurels to the state by securing 97.8 per cent in the Class XII CBSE exam, the results of which were declared on Saturday. A student of humanities at Delhi Public School, Srinagar, she topped the exams in the Valley this year.
Geelani termed Sama Shabir as “a role model for the young generation”. The Hurriyat leader saluted the courage and steadfastness of Sama, “who against all odds and in his father’s absence managed a Herculean task to secure the top position”.
Geelani nominated a high-level delegation comprising Hakim Ab Rashid, Syed M Shafi and Syed Imtiaz to felicitate Sama.
