Mian Dido statue desecrated; one arrested

A man has been arrested for desecrating the statue of Mian Dido at Amphalla in the heart of the capital city. The incident took place yesterday.

Earlier, National Conference provincial president Devender Singh Rana reached the spot and expressed shock over the incident. He said, “The sacrilegious act is unacceptable and those involved in hurting the sentiments of Jammu residents must be brought to book. If not, the administration will be responsible for the consequences.”

He also interacted with residents, who had gathered there to express their concern over the incident.

Senior district officials, including the Additional Deputy Commissioner and the Superintendent of Police, reached the spot and told Rana that an FIR had been registered. They also assured round-the-clock security of the historic statue with necessary CCTV installations.

Rana said Mian Dido, Data Ranpat and Baba Jitto were among the towering symbols of the Dogra heritage.
