Srinagar, August 5
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has nominated five additional spokespersons to assist the chief spokesperson at provincial level in matters related to the media.
The party chief spokesperson, Rafi Mir, named three young political leaders in Kashmir — Yawar Mir, Tahir Sayeed and Syed Najamus Saquib — as additional spokespersons from Kashmir province.
“From Jammu province, Firdous Tak and Abhijeet jasrotia have been appointed as additional spokespersons,” a PDP spokesman said.
While Yawar Mir is an MLA from Rafiabad, Tahir is a journalist-turned-mainstream politician. Tahir was also a media analyst of the former J&K Government.
The nomination of additional spokespersons comes at a time when the party is all set for a major revamp, which has become necessary after Peoples Democratic Party vice-president and Mehbooba Mufti’s maternal uncle Sartaj Madni and all five office-bearers of the party put in their papers. The PDP is facing a revolt within the party after at least five of its MLAs and two MLCs publically spoke against the leadership.
