Jalandhar, July 8
As many as 1,582 youngsters participated in the Spark Fair held by the district administration on the CT Shahpur campus.
As many as 430 youngsters were selected for jobs by various companies, Deputy Commissioner KK Yadav said.
The DC said some youths would receive selection certificates in the coming two to three days.
As many as 34 private companies participated in the fair, including HDFC Bank, Life Insurance Corporation, Pukhraj, Indian State Bank, HB Tools and Videocon among others.
Selections for jobs vacant in Jalandhar’s industrial establishments like turner, moulder, CNC operator, grinder man, electrician, electric gas welder, furnace operator, computer operator and boiler attendant among others were made.
Local companies made 70 selections, LIC 70, HDFC Bank 30, home credit 31, Dish India Private Limited 50, Vimco Auto Industry 5 and Pukhraj 15.
The number of girls among the selected youngsters was seen to be higher.
Amarjit Singh of GM Industries, Employment Generation and Training Department deputy directoir Sanjida Beri, deputy director youth services YS Dhami, guidance councillor Surjit Lal and Ramanpreet Kaur among others were present on the occasion.
CT chairman Charanjeet Singh Channi and managing director S Manvir Singh were also present on the occasion.
