Jalandhar, January 1
With the orders of the Ministry of Home Affairs, 114 Battalion of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) got converted into Rapid Action Force (RAF).
The occasion was celebrated on the campus of 114 Bn at Lidhran Camp in Lidhran village. The celebrations commenced with flag hoisting by Rajesh Kumar Singh, Commandant.
The personnel of 114 Bn wore the blue dress for the first time today.
The programme was followed by the distribution of sweets and guidance given by the commandant.
After the Guard of Honour, a demonstration was showcased, which included various drills that are used during riot-control and various rescue and relief missions.
In the afternoon session, a friendly cricket match was played. The uniform colour of the 114 Bn has been changed into blue camouflage. The Rapid Action Force is also known as ‘Blue Dangri Force’ because of its peculiar dress colour and effective action and response.
With the change in colour of the uniform and it’s flag, now the primary task of 114 Bn RAF is to respond to riot situations in no time.
The Rapid Action Force is also known for its zero time response executions and movements to effectively control riot situations.
“The battalion will also have the secondary task to act as the first responder for rescue and relief missions in case of natural or man-made disasters in surrounding regions that included Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir,” said the officials.
