Two Jalandhar film producers are wanted by the Muktsar police in an abetment to suicide, cheating and criminal conspiracy case. Both Kapil Batra and Rajan Batra are brothers. They also own a Bear Bull Global Commodity Company.

As per the suicide note, duo had allegedly abetted the suicide of Bimal Soni(27), resident of Deep Singh Nagar, Abohar.A case under Section 306, 420, 120B, 34 of the IPC was registered against them at the Sadar Malout police station in Muktsar on December 27, 2014.

Sources said duo owned Batra Showbiz, a production and distribution company, and produced many famous Punjabi films like Pinky Moge Wali, Pure Punjabi, Yaar Anmulley and Viah 70 Kilometer.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Muktsar Kuldeep Singh Chahal told The Tribune on phone that Kapil Batra and Rajan Batra had been evading arrest since the registration of abetment to suicide case. “Our teams have been conducting raids at the specific hideouts of the accused and police team even raided their hideouts in Jalandhar but no arrest was made so far,” said the SSP. Deceased’s brother Kapil Soni alleged his brother committed suicide due to some financial problems as he had invested a big amount between Rs 3 to 4 Rs crore in a film company and in Bear Bull Global Commodity Company by borrowing from others which were later not returned to them by Batras.

Despite repeated requests , Kapil and Rajan refused to return the money. They had once only given cheques but the same couldn’t be withdrawn due to insufficient balances in their bank accounts. His parents today also met the Malout police and assured that accused will soon be arrested. The deceased’s brother demanded that the accused should be put behind the bars soon.He said his brother had committed suicide in a Malout hotel on December 26, 2014 and in a suicide note, he had held Kapil and Rajan responsible for his death. Malout SHO Rameshwar said the entire investigation into the matter has been conducted by the SSP of Muktsar.
