The Jalandhar (Rural) police today arrested six narcotic smugglers, including three foreign nationals (Nigerians) —with 2.32 kg heroin besides seizing 88 kg of poppy husk – in four separate incidents.
Those arrested have been identified as Nishan and Harpreet Singh, both residents of Mohalla Kazi Kot Road, Tarn Taran, Amaica, a resident of Lagos, Nigeria (from whom 600 gm heroin was recovered), Kane Michael as well as Aikvegvolve Anthony Mamaduvauvochoko, both residents of Acoba Ajejia, Lagos, Nigeria and also Gurcharan Singh alias Kiky resident of Majitha.
Divulging details, SSP (Rural) Navjot Singh Mahal said they received a tip off that narcotic smugglers were bringing heroin in the district. The CIA staff carried out a checking on the National Highway, at Dayalpur village, during which the police party intercepted an Innova car (PB-46-G-3411) and recovered 1 kg heroin (500 gm each from two of its occupants).
Driver of the car, identified as Nishan Singh, was from Tarn Taran, whereas the person sitting on the adjoining seat revealed his identity as Harpreet Singh, a resident of Mohalla Kazi Kot Road, Tarn Taran. The SSP said during the checking of the vehicle, the 500 gram heroin was recovered from the personal kit of Nishan Singh and 500 gram heroin was recovered from the bag of Harpreet Singh.
Mahal said Nishan Singh (26) revealed three cases of snatching and ransom had previously been registered against him in Tarn Taran and he had came out from jail in year 2018. He was trading drugs for the past one month. Similarly, Harpreet Singh (24) revealed Nishan lured him of earning huge money.
In another incident, the Shahkot police, during checks near Davat Hotel at Shahkot, nabbed a person of foreign origin coming from the Malsian side, on suspicion.
The police said while the man tried to flee, he was arrested after the police chased him. Mahal said during the checking of the handbag of the person, he was identified as Amaica from Lagos, Nigeria (presently resident of Vitin Garden, Dwarka, New Delhi) and 600 gm Heroin was recovered from him - after which a case was registered against him.
The SSP said in yet another incident – the Shahkot police nabbed two persons of foreign origin with over 500 gm of heroin. The SSP said coming from the Malsian side, two persons - identified as Kane Michael and Aikvegvolve Anthony Mamaduvauvochoko, both residents of Acoba, Ajejia Lagos Nigeria (presently residents of Navada, Uttam Nagar, Delhi) were chased and apprehended by the police.
During the search, 265 gram of heroin was recovered from Kane Michael and 260 gram of heroin was recovered from Aikvegvolve Anthony Mamaduvauvochoko. A case has been registered against them.
Lastly, the police also arrested Gurcharan Singh, alias, Kiky, a resident of Geereana Well, near the railway station, Majitha from Alawalpur with 200 grams of heroin.
The SSP said police also recovered 88 kg of poppy husk from vehicle of also Jaila resident of Kingra Cho Wala and his wife Inderjit alias Jiti, who were into drug smuggling. Mahal said both the accused managed to flee away.
Suspects were from nigeria
In another incident, the Shahkot police nabbed two foreigners with 500 gms of heroin. The SSP said the two suspects, identified as Kane Michael and Aikvegvolve Anthony Mamaduvauvochoko, both residents of Acoba, Ajejia Lagos, Nigeria, were coming from the Malsian side. They were chased and apprehended by the police. At present, they were living in Uttam Nagar, Delhi.
