Around 18 teams of men and 12 of women are going to fight for the coveted title. On the first day, nine matches were played between men’s and women’s teams.

LPU is hosting the four-day basketball championship at the basketball courts on the Campus. The Jalandhar District Basketball Association is organising the matches from July 17 to 20 in morning and evening hours.

ADGP Kalra asked the players to prove their worth by observing the true sportsmanship throughout the championship. Lovely Group chairman Sh Ramesh Mittal also blessed the state players.

Expecting great record results from the championship, LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal said the university earlier came forward to support the cash prize awarding ceremony organised by the Punjab Government on the campus to honour talented sportspersons of the state.

“We also award 100 per cent scholarship to national and international medal winners so that they may be excellent in academics as well,” said Mittal.
