550 saplings planted in Sultanpur Lodhi

Taking a note of the fact that there are a few flowering trees in the periphery of holy town of Sultanpur Lodhi, Ludhiana-based lawyer Harpreet Sandhu along with floriculturist Avtar Singh Dhindsa planted 550 flower-bearing saplings on Monday.  

With the initiative coming three months ahead of the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, Sandhu got planted five trees in front of Gurdwara Ber Sahib and the rest of trees around Holy Bein and either side of the road leading to the proposed Pind Baba Nanak Da (an upcoming tent city for accommodating devotees).

Kaputhala Deputy Commissioner DPS Kharbanda, Sultanpur Lodhi MLA Navtej Singh Cheema, ADC Avtar Singh Bhullar, SDM Navneet Kaur Bal, Sant Sukhjeet Singh, Dy Director Horticulture Kulwinder Singh Sandhu joined the duo in planting gulmohar and amaltas trees. Sandhu said, “I have observed in last few months during my visits to Sultanpur Lodhi that there has been no flower tree in the entire town. So I thought on this line. Today, with the blessings of Almighty, I have been able to execute my plan”. — TNS
