A student of class II at St Joseph’s Convent School, Jalandhar, Priyansh was in a perfectly good health when he went to the school this morning. However, on boarding the school van while coming back home, he complained of uneasiness and his health deteriorated after which students raised an alarm and Priyansh was taken inside the school.

While the in-house staff tried to revive him once inside the school premises, on seeing no improvement in his health, he was taken to a local private hospital where it was declared that he had died.

While the school authorities closed the school in view of the incident, an exam due to take place today was postponed. SHO police post bus-stand sub-inspector Harsimranjit Singh said, “The student was perfectly fine at the school as the CCTV footage revealed. Probably, he couldn’t bear the heat during his subsequent outing on the school grounds during the day. He suddenly collapsed and his health deteriorated while in the school van. The parents of the child understand the situation. The death was sudden and they are not making any further claims or demands in the matter.”

While Priyansh’s inconsolable parents were not in a position to talk, his uncle Pardeeep Kumar, (his father Parveen Kumar’s bother), said, “We have seen the CCTV footage and he was attending to his lessons normally. The school did its job, we have no grouse against it. While doctors haven’t been able to pinpoint the exact reason for his death, heat is the most likely reason as of now.”
