After a gap of two years, Padam Shree singer Hans Raj Hans will be again seen performing in Bollywood movie “Partition:1947”, set to be released tomorrow.

The Sufi singer has sung two songs “Duma dum mast kalandar” and “Jindwa” for the film directed by Gurinder Chadha. Sharing his plan for tomorrow, Hans, who was at his place today, said, “I will be going to a local theatre today to attend its screening. I somehow could not make it to Mumbai to attend the release of the film organised by Reliance tomorrow. My sons Navraj and Yuvraj will be there on my behalf. I have already attended its premiere in Amritsar with the director recently. I had earlier also shared a stage with music composer AR Rehman in Mumbai during its music album release.”

Hans, who had last sung for films “Mausam” and “Patiala House”, said, “It is such a joyous switchover for me back to the music world. That’s where my passion lies. I somehow now feel that I could not even understand the basic grammatical rules of politics. I accept my ignorance in this field. The politicians could not understand me and I could not understand them.”

Hans, who had unsuccessfully contested the Jalandhar Lok Sabha polls in 2009, is currently with the BJP. He had started his political career with the SAD and had switched over to the Congress before finally moving to the BJP. “I am still with the BJP, but I am not much active. I do only works assigned to me as they did for Chandigarh and then Uttar Pradesh,” he said.

Other than singing, Hans is enjoying spending time at Lal Badshah Durgah in Nakodar. “My wife and my sons have got permanently settled in Mumbai. I am shuttling between Mumbai and Jalandhar. I cannot leave Nakodar where I am now attached for the rest of my life. We are running an anti-addiction drive here now in a big way,” he added.

Hans had also performed at the Indo-Pak border on the night of August 14. “The Hind Pak Dosti Manch has been organising an event for the past several years, which I too always attend. This time I had sung ‘Sunyo ve kalman waleyo’, a song penned by Shiv Kumar Batalvi,” he shared. The singer had also recently sung songs from his new release at Apeejay College a few days ago.
