After Bhajji, Diljit Dosanjh roped in to educate voters
Jalandhar, october 15
After appointing cricketer Harbhajan Singh as the brand ambassador for its Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme ahead of the 2017 Assembly elections, the district election office has also roped in singer-cum-actor Diljit Dosanjh for the purpose.
After the Pammy Aunty campaign launched by the Hoshiarpur administration that got popular on Whatsapp and Facebook, officials of other districts, too, are under pressure to spice up their campaign.
The Jalandhar administration has roped in radio jockeys and production teams, created enactments by involving college students and uploaded them on Facebook and YouTube accounts of 2017 SVEEP Jalandhar.
However, scores of such videos and links uploaded have not got much response in terms of likes and shares.
Officials now believe that as the campaign draws near, they will hold some live shows and youth interaction programmes with the two celebrities to add in more attraction and increase mass involvement.
Ahead of the voter enrollment campaign that ended on October 15, the election office had put up posters of Bhajji at various intersections across the city. Diljit Dosanjh will be the next celebrity to be seen on city’s hoardings. — TNS
