Jalandhar, December 8
After PUDA received only 100 applications for its 490 high-end flats under the Splendid Heights scheme coming up at the old jail site, the Jalandhar Improvement Trust (JIT), too, has gone ahead to retry its luck in the sale of 101 HIG super deluxe flats in Surya Enclave.
Though the trust had invited applications for 119 flats in March this year, it had then received only 18 applications. Keeping the price of the flats with a covered area of 2,240 sq feet at Rs 64.10 lakh and targeting the NRIs who are here in large numbers, the JIT has again invited applications from December 5 to January 5.
As per the plan, 119 flats will come up in six circular blocks. Each flat will have three bedrooms, a lobby and a drawing room with a provision of round-the-clock power supply and security.
The plan envisages two flats per floor in each block with 10 feet wide circulation in between, two lifts, including a stretcher lift, fire escape bridges on alternate floors, separate club with indoor swimming pool facility and halls for parties.
Improvement Trust Chairman Vinay Bublani said earlier they could not get much response because of the Lok Sabha elections. “But, this time, we intend to popularise the scheme by using FM and putting up hoardings across the city,” he said.
Even PUDA has carried out a campaign for its flats. PUDA, too, had put up hoardings and had installed LEDs showing walk-through videos of the project to attract customers for the scheme but the high price of Rs 71.9 lakh for a three-bedroom flat and Rs 91.9 lakh for a four-bedroom flat kept the buyers away.
PUDA Chief Administrator Manvesh Sidhu had himself come to Jalandhar to popularise the scheme but it failed to get good response.
The Additional CA, PUDA, Gurpreet Singh Khehra, said the scheme was extended till last Friday. “Next time when we will call applications and the price of a four-bedroom flat will be above Rs 1 crore,” he said.
16 properties auctioned
Meanwhile, the JIT has managed to sell 16 residential and commercial properties in Jalandhar during an auction held on last Friday. JIT Chairman Bublani said various properties sold during the auction included a house in Master Tara Singh Nagar, which went for Rs 85 lakh, commercial properties in Surya Enclave, Guru Amar Dass Nagar and Guru Gobind Singh Avenue.
