Agri Dept makes farmers aware of kisan nidhi scheme

The Agriculture Department today organised a district-level awareness camp for the peasantry under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PMKSN) scheme at Madaar village in the Adampur block.
The camp was inaugurated by Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM-1) Sanjiv Sharma, along with Chief Agriculture Officer, Nazar Singh.
While addressing farmers, SDM-1 Sanjiv Sharma said under the scheme, the government would transfer Rs 6,000 annually into the accounts of farmers.
He said self-declaration forms had been made available in all 245 co-operative societies and all eligible farmers could avail the benefit of the scheme after submitting the forms by February 25.
Sharma said every small and marginal farmer having up to five-acre land was eligible for getting the benefits of the scheme. Besides, the scheme was aimed to bail out the farmers of the their financial crisis and strengthening the rural economy.”
He said the government was committed towards providing the benefit of the scheme to all farmers in the district who were eligible under the scheme.
Meanwhile, Dr Nazar said earlier also, the Agriculture Department had organised such awareness camps in Shahkot, Lohian, Nakodar, Nurmahal, Rurka Kalan, Phillaur, Adampur, Bhogpur, Jalandhar East and Jalandhar West so that maximum farmers could be enrolled as beneficiaries under the scheme. In the district-level camp, experts Jograjbir Singh and Balkar Chand told the farmers about new agro technologies, seeds and fertilisers and answered their queries.
