AICAD XI beat Ravi XI, lift cricket trophy

Team AICAD XI emerged victorious and lifted the Deaf IPL 2017 Trophy by beating Team Ravi XI in the final. Usha International, one of the country’s leading consumer durable company, continues its association with the All India Cricket Association for the Deaf (AICAD) and Deaf Cricket Federation, Punjab, for the second edition of the Usha Deaf IPL 2017 held at Lovely Professional University today.

AICAD XI won the toss and chose to bowl. Abhishek Singh from Ravi XI played a fabulous innings unbeaten (30 runs) and helped his team reach a total of 112 runs on 7 wickets in the 20 overs. Karan Vinde from AICAD XI took 3 wickets in 3 overs.

Chasing the target, Kareemuddin and T Harikrishna from AICAD XI scored 25 runs each. Pankaj Kumar from Ravi XI took 4 wickets in 4 overs. Abhishek Singh was adjudged the man of the match and the man of the series. Binay Kumar Jha, Chief Commissioner, Income Tax, Ludhiana, was the chief guest.

The three-day tournament witnessed the participation of six teams and players from 23 states.

Speaking about the event, Komal Mehra, events head, Usha International, said it was inspirational to see their skill and enthusiasm against all odds, competing in a national-level tournament. With over 250 hearing and speech impaired cricketers from the country and abroad participating this year, the company felt honoured to be a part of such an endeavour.

The names of the teams participated in the Deaf IPL 2017 were Sutlej XI, Ravi XI, Chenab XI, Beas XI, Jhelum XI and AICAD XI. Many of these players have also represented the country as part of the Indian Deaf Cricket Team.
