SC Welfare Minister and Congress representative of the Ravidassia community Sadhu Singh Dharamsot said not giving ticket to a Valmiki is a completely non-issue.

The minister said: “There are 37 castes of SCs and all castes cannot be adjusted. Ticket have been given to Dalit leaders. All castes cannot be appeased. We cannot rope in representatives of all communities such as Bazigar and Rai Sikh. Raj Kumar Verka, a Valmiki leader, has got a Cabinet rank. Hence, if not on ticket, we have adjusted every caste somewhere.”

Asked about the angst shown by Kaypee, Dharamsot maintained that he had already received so much honour from the party in the past. Even as the entire Congress leadership, including Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, PPCC chief Sunil Jakhar, ministers Sadhu Singh Dharamsot and Sukhjinder Randhawa were in Jalandhar today but they did not visit disgruntled leader and former MP Mohinder Singh Kaypee.

On the issue of keeping a distance from Kaypee today, Dharamsot said; “I do not initiate any task in the party which has not been assigned to me.” Kaypee has been angry with his party and has even said he and other ignored Dalit leaders could float the Congress Taksali front. Kaypee, however, is learnt to have met the Chief Minister at Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar today.
