Even though the government is not taking any initiative to provide any kind of aid to the city-based 19-year-old Asian Youth Para Games champion Aakash Mehra, a helping hand in the form of financial help is proving to be fruitful to him.

Mehra, who has prosthetic legs and is running out of funds for further medical treatment of his artificial limbs, needs financial help for his treatment.

Ravi Sharma, a resident of Ambala, who is currently working in a private company in Kapurthala, has proposed to help the champion. He has decided to help him by bearing all his medical expenses in replacing the prosthetic legs.

On this gesture, the mother of the player who works as a household labourer, said, initially political leaders had promised to provide Akash a government job and other cash rewards, but no such action had been taken and now when Akash is preparing for the National Games, the servicing of his amputated legs needs to be done. So, this financial aid would be a great help to the poor family. Meanwhile, Ravi Sharma is also engaged in other such social activities.
