Arms display marks Kargil Vijay Diwas

To commemorate the 20 years of Kargil war victory, the Field Outreach Bureau (FOB) of the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in coordination with the Indian Army, is celebrating the event as Kargil Vijay Diwas in Jalandhar. A two-day event was organised at Viva Collage Mall today.
Vajra Corps of the Indian Army displayed arms and ammunition for the general public. Drawing competition on the theme of Indian Army and ‘Letter to a soldier’ and a writing competition were held for different age groups.
A rope climbing competition was also held in which general public participated. Events were also organised at MBD Mall and Jawahar Park at Jalandhar Cantonment.
The Field Publicity Officer of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Rajesh Bali, said such events inculcated the spirit of patriotism among people, especially youth.
These events make them aware of the sacrifices made by brave soldiers not only during Kargil war but other wars too to safeguard the borders of the motherland.
Short films on Kargil war and Indian Army were also shown at the mall.
Brig Ajoy Mukherjee, Commander, Siramani Brigade, who was the chief guest at the event, said it was an honour for all to celebrate July 26 as Kargil Vijay Diwas.
He said it was a reminder not only of the victory over the enemy but also of the sacrifices made by brave soldiers to achieve it.
