Students of Army Public School topped the district bagging 99 per cent and 98.2 per cent marks, respectively.
Rajas Bhatt topped the non-medical stream with 99 per cent marks, also the top position in the state, while Swati Panda of the same school bagged 98.4 per cent in the humanities stream.
Speaking to The Tribune, Swati Panda, said, “It was not very difficult for me because I was studying seriously right from class VI to X keeping in mind that it was sort of a mini preparation for the senior classes and it paid off.”
Speaking about her mantra for success, she said, “You just want to venture out more, look more into it and eventually it gets easier and pays off.”
Comparing herself to the students who put eight to ten hours of hard work into the studies, Swati said, “I can never sit that long. I came back from school, took a long nap and studied from 6 to 9. I took a break from 9 to 10 and then studied again from 10 to 2 am or till the time I went to bed.”
Swati studied a combination of History, Geography and Economics because “I did not get political science.”
Interested in studying BA LLB, Swati eventually intends to prepare for being an Army judge (JAG) and the Advocate General stream in the Army. She credits her father Subedar Major (retd) Satrughan Panda for having stood by her and not bowing to pressure when everyone wanted her to study science after getting 10 CGPA in class X.
Her mother Shakuntala Panda is a homemaker. Swati Panda also credits her grandmother – who died while she was preparing for Boards – for being a big support in her studies.
Swati, who saw her elder sister prepare for engineering and cousin for medical, said watching them she made up her mind to take up Humanities. She also considers preparing for the civil services exam as a possible option.
Kavya Kapoor, from MGN Public School, Jalandhar, who bagged 98 per cent in Commerce along with Himanshu from Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, said the “Party is not over yet.”
“Until the pre-Boards till November, I used to spend six to seven hours in studies. But after that, my study time increased. I had expected 95 per cent or more. But this has exceeded my expectations.” While Kavya’s father Kunal kapoor is a renowned chartered accountant in the city, her mother Madhvi is a home maker.
Giving suggestions to students planning to crack the Boards, she said, “They should spend quality time in studies and not judge their study in terms of hours. This way, they can get more result with less of study.”
Students of Cambridge Int’l school shine
Phagwara: Students of Class XII of Cambridge International School, Phagwara, attained 100 per cent result in the board exams of 2018-19. A total of 24 students got above 90 per cent marks. Charul of humanities stream, topped in the school with 97.8 per cent marks, followed by Damanpreet Ghera with 96.6 per cent. In non-medical, Diyanshu Bansal bagged 96.2 per cent marks. In commerce, Namridhi and Venus secured 95.4 per cent marks and in the Medical stream Natasha Rai bagged 90.2 per cent marks. Principal Jorawar Singh congratulated the students for achieving the distinction.
