After meetings between the Director General of Police, Suresh Arora, and the General Samaj Manch, Dalit leaders and Manch representatives have started knocking the doors of the Governor in connection with the Phagwara communal clashes that took place on the night of April 13.
After a meeting between the Governor and members of the Manch, a delegation of the Bahujan Samaj Party informed the Governor about the situation in Phagwara. They demanded adequate compensation for the family of the Dalit youth Yaswant alias Bobby who was killed in the firing and a job for one of his family members.
The delegation demanded immediate arrest of the killers and withdrawal of false cases registered against the innocent youth. The delegation of General Samaj Manch demanded immediate arrest of those responsible for communal clashes that took place on the night of April 13.
Meanwhile, heavy police and paramilitary forces were deployed in sensitive areas of the town to maintain law and order. Meanwhile, the Bhog ceremony of Bobby would be held at Phagwara tomorrow, i,e, Sunday, May 6.
