Asstt prof commissioned as Lieutenant in NCC

Sonia Mahendru, a city resident, has brought laurels to the city as she was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the National Cadet Corps (NCC). After completing her three-month Pre Commission Course (PRCN) course at the NCC Officer’s Training Academy (OTA), Gwalior, recently, she has been appointed as an Associate NCC officer (ANO) in the district and will train NCC cadets.
An assistant professor at the department of computer science in Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Sonia (40) had been performing the duties of NCC caretaker in the college for the past two years.
However, after developing interest in the NCC workings, she aspired to join the services as an officer. She said during the two years of additional duty of NCC caretaker she learnt many things and groomed herself to join the services.
Later, after two rounds of selection procedures in the month of November, she was selected for the training and after the 90-day training at OTA from July 22 to October 19, this year, she received the stars.
