Banga takes charge as Trust chief

Phagwara: Senior Congress leader Sohan Lal Banga assumed the charge of Chairman, Improvement Trust, Phagwara, on Wednesday. Former Union minister Santosh Chaudhary, Punjab Scheduled Castes Land Development and Finance Corporation Chairman Mohan Lal Sood, former minister Joginder Singh Maan, Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal (IAS), Inder Duggal, Vijay Sondhi, Naresh Bhardwaj, Seeta Rani, Vinod Vermani, Sarjeevan Lata, besides social activists Dr Anoop, Malkiat Singh Ragbotra and Ajit Singh Walia were among those others present. Youth booked on abduction charge

Phagwara: On a complaint lodged by Buta Singh of Hardasspur village, the police have registered a case against an unknown youth on the charge of abducting his minor daughter on the pretext of marrying her. The girl was missing since August 27. OC

Bike stolen from outside residence

Phagwara: A motorcycle (bearing registration No. PB-36D-4238), belonging to Aakash Parbhakar of Model Town locality was found missing from outside his house on Wednesday night. The victim said he went home after parking the motorcycle in front of his residence but found it missing on return. OC

Body fished out from canal

Jalandhar: The police on Thursday fished out a body of an unidentified man from the DAV College canal. There were no clothes on the body and it seemed to have been in water for several days. The police had to struggle for over an hour to take out the body.TNS 

Student rusticated for making video

Jalandhar: A Class XII student has been rusticated for recording a sleazy video of his teacher. The video went viral on social media. In the two-minute video, the teacher allegedly made nude poses which the boy recorded and later shared with his friends. The school management said: “This is to clarify that the teacher involved in the case worked on an ad hoc basis and her services were terminated on May 31 this year. The student is a ward of a printing press owner. He has been rusticated from the school.” TNS
