He was identified as Bakhshi Ram (54), a resident of Guru Gobind Singh Avenue.

The GRP said they were informed by some passersby in the morning that a body was lying on the tracks. When they reached the spot to inquire the same, the body was identified as that of the bank employee. No suicide note was recovered from the spot.

Initially, there were rumours that the man had committed suicide by jumping before a train, but the GRP initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC as the family members of the deceased did not suspect any foul play behind the incident.

The GRP said the victim might have been crossing the tracks in the morning and met with the tragedy. After conducting the postmortem, the body was handed over to the family.

In another incident reported at Lambra village, a bike-borne man died after his speeding bike rammed into an electricity pole on the Jalandhar-Nakodar highway. For identification, the body would be kept at the Civil Hospital for 72 hours. The police had also circulated the images of the deceased at all police stations across the region for identification.
