Alisha Chauhan was crowned as 'Miss Jalandhar' in the grand finale of the beauty pageant 'Miss Jalandhar' organised by the CT Group of Institutions at its Shahpur Campus on Thursday. Saaz Malhotra was the first runners up while Khushbu was crowned as the second runners up in the event. The title holder of Miss Jalandhar was felicitated with the prize money of Rs 51,000 while the first runner up with Rs 11,000 and second runner up with Rs 5,100. The event was judged by Mrs India Jasmine Toor Bhatara, Miss India Glamour Preetika Saini, renowned fashion designer Punit Arora and international interior decorator Nancy Randhawa. Dilpreet Virk was the director and choreographer, Gurpreeet Singh was the assistant director and host while Arshpreet Singh was the assistant director of the event. Dr Rohit Sarin, Chairman, Hotel Management Board of Studies, IKG PTU and Director, CT Institute of Hospitality and Management, said 20 contestants were judged on through various rounds. The auditions were conducted at HMV College, CT Shahpur and CT Maqsudan where 441 contestants had participated. Out of these, 60 girls were shortlisted for the semi-finals from where 20 were selected for the final rounds. They were judged on the basis of traditional attire, western wear, talent, wit and many such other parameters.
Mechanical engineering workshop held
A three-day workshop on simulation of mechanical design was organised by the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, GNA University, Phagwara, under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Dr Prem Kumar. Experts Amandeep and Gaurav, chief technical officers from Stealth Technocrats were invited from Chandigarh. More than 200 students participated from the mechanical department. The event was inaugurated by Dr Prem Kumar and Dr P Thareja, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology. Sunil Sarad, Registrar and staff members of the department were present. The vote of thanks was given by Ramesh Chandra Panda.
New academic session
Guru Amar Dass Public School started its new academic session by seeking the blessings of the Almighty. Students of primary and senior wing went to Gurdwara Sahib along with their teachers and recited Japji Sahib's path. Bhai Navneet Singh Raagi Jatha enthralled the audience with their melodious shabad kirtan. It was followed by Ardaas for the auspicious beginning of the new session and successful future of students. School Principal Manpreet Kaur Bhogal, administrative officer Avinash Kaur and vice principal Navneet Kaur were also present. —TNS
