Jalandhar, September 20
The local election office has appointed cricketer Harbhajan Singh as the brand ambassador for its Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme, which will be underway till the 2017 Assembly elections.
The election office has already started erecting posters of youth icon Bhajji at various intersections across the city urging the youth of age above 18 years to get enrolled in the ongoing summary revision of the electoral rolls till October 7. Once back from his foreign tour, he will even campaign with the district election team locally.
Election Tehsildar said Bhajji had been taken as a brand ambassador for the Jalandhar election office since he was the most popular youth face of the city. “He is apolitical and neutral too”, he added. ADC (D) Girish Dayalan said, “Bhajji has given his consent to work with us for various levels. We are currently promoting enrolment and then on we will be doing activities for next two-three months to increase voting trend.”
